Helpful Tips!

This week, I had my first call from a company. Trouble is, I didn’t even know what this company was about or how it worked. After the initial call, I thought to myself, “what is it that I will actually be doing?”. I didn’t think anymore about it until I got an email on Friday asking me to complete an assessment, which seemed simple. Basic role-playing. Uh oh! How do I complete an assessment when I don’t even know what the company does???? Has this ever happened to you? If so, I thought of 2 surefire ways to “get to know the company”.

  1. Do your research! This seems so obvious, but sometimes you get caught up in applying to different jobs and don’t think of anything else.
  2. Read their docs! What better way to learn about a company, framework, or language than to read the docs. A basic understanding is better than none.

So, over the weekend, I researched the company. I looked at how they handled issues and answered consumer questions. I read over their docs to ensure I had a basic knowledge of how they worked. I also looked up the company to make sure that I fully understood what I would be doing if hired.

I hope this was helpful!
