Helpful Tips!
This week, I had my first call from a company. Trouble is, I didn’t even know what this company was about or how it worked. After the initial call, I thought to myself, “what is it that I will actually be doing?”. I didn’t think anymore about it until I got an email on Friday asking me to complete an assessment, which seemed simple. Basic role-playing. Uh oh! How do I complete an assessment when I don’t even know what the company does???? Has this ever happened to you? If so, I thought of 2 surefire ways to “get to know the company”.
- Do your research! This seems so obvious, but sometimes you get caught up in applying to different jobs and don’t think of anything else.
- Read their docs! What better way to learn about a company, framework, or language than to read the docs. A basic understanding is better than none.
So, over the weekend, I researched the company. I looked at how they handled issues and answered consumer questions. I read over their docs to ensure I had a basic knowledge of how they worked. I also looked up the company to make sure that I fully understood what I would be doing if hired.
I hope this was helpful!
